An employmeny charity has opened its doors to aspiring entrepreneurs by offering the chance to access government start-up loans and free mentoring.

Elevation Networks (EN) offers a fresh opportunity to anyone aged over 18 hoping to establish themselves in the business world.

The award-winning charity, which has just opened an office on the Old Steine, Brighton, aims to promote entrepreneurship and support the growth of new businesses.

Entrepreneurs are helped to overcome the worries and challenges of self-employment and develop their ideas gradually to create a self-sufficient business.

EN also helps new and small businesses access government loans of up to £25,000, designed to be accessible, flexible and charged at a minimal interest rate.

Nik Downs, from Brighton EN, said: “We mentor anyone from the age of 18 with a business idea.

“They are given specific business mentors to help with cash budgets and forecasts.

“We hope to expand into other areas as time goes on, but the primary focus is start-up schemes.

“We are working with some local partners already and so we’ve really hit the ground running.”

Nik has 20 years’ business experience in Brighton and Hove and has worked with Kemptown and Peacehaven MP Simon Kirby and pub trade millionaire and reality TV star Martin Webb.

Now established in Brighton, EN will be delivering training and networking events for Brighton-based entrepreneurs.

Budding businessmen and women have already visited the new offices.

Anyone with a business idea is welcome to book a meeting to gain some initial advice, with all entrepreneurs supported by the start-up programme receiving free training and mentoring.

Set up in 2006 to increase diversity in the workplace,ENis nowone of the top four providers of start-up loans.

It is now working with the government to deliver £160 million of start-up grants to young people.

Finance, mentoring and business support is available for those with a business idea or firms trading for less than 12 months.
