Those who like a personal soundtrack with their evening cocktail will be in safe hands at the city’s newest bar and kitchen concept.

Shuffle Bar and Kitchen, which opened in York Place, Brighton, is a project spearheaded by World Flair Cocktail Championship finalist Paul Mason.

The business abandons the traditional cocktail bar and gives drinkers and diners the chance to select their own soundtrack on an online jukebox.

It joins a growing scene of destination shops, bars and restaurants in the rapidly regenerated London Road area.

Guests are able to access playlists via smartphone and mobile devices allowing them to select their favourite tunes throughout the evening.

Meanwhile drinks whizz Paul boasts a selection of more than 100 boozy treats and a choice of locally sourced grub for punters to enjoy.

He said: “We want Shuffle to be a place where pretentions are left at the door, people forget their worries and have a great time.

“As well as an exciting way to listen to music we also want to put the enjoyment back into drinking cocktails.

“For too long cocktails have been about the ‘mixologist’ and not about the drinker.

“We’ll deliver a massive selection of wonderfully delicious cocktails, prepared quickly and effortlessly so our guests can get back to their party rather than standing at a bar for 20 minutes.”

Paul’s CV boasts details of his time as cofounder of the biggest independent cocktail bar in the country, Be At One, and brings experience of working and managing bars in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia and the USA.

Shuffle Bar’s proposition, he says, is simple: “Over 100 cocktails plus bottled beers, wine and champagne.

Shuffle will serve the now infamous ‘Shuffle Skewers’, gourmet burgers, hot dogs and sliders. At the bar every guest is a DJ at the perfect house party.”
