UP TO 200 jobs are being created with the opening of a unique business in Shoreham.

Futureform, a property developer and specialist manufacturer of modular buildings, has moved in to new offices in Free Wharf, Brighton Road.

The state-of-the-art premises will be capable of manufacturing 1,000 three-bedroom houses every year.

Customers visiting the factory will be able to pick their home just as they would a new car.

They can choose from a range of different house types with life-size show homes on display at the factory.

Boss Steven Barrett said: “We have opened the UK’s first showroom for modular housing and buildings of its type here in Shoreham.

“With the housing crisis at the top of the political agenda, we want to revolutionise the way people buy homes in this country as well as develop sites more efficiently and sustainably.

“We are already making a significant investment in the local area by creating a range of new jobs and taking on apprentices.

“We want to build on that and are currently talking to training providers both locally and across the UK about creating a framework of practical training provision, specifically focused on the type of modular, off-site construction that we specialise in.

“I am really pleased to see, therefore, that the field of technical apprenticeships is an area that the Government has supported as part of its Budget announcement.

“We hope that this will be an area of job training and creation that will grow and expand.”

The company says it will be creating more than 150 to 200 skilled, semi and unskilled jobs, with roles such as sales and support, architecture and design, planning and construction.

There will also be assembly plant operatives for carpentry, metalwork, plastering and dry-lining, mechanical and electrical positions.

Futureform is offering homes under the brand of House Beautiful Homes.
