A BRIGHTON entrepreneur has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award and will compete with businesses from across the UK for the top prize.

Peter Ramsey - who created property and landlord review company Movem - has been nominated for the Young Entrepreneur of the YEar award at the 19th annual Amazon Growing Business Awards which takes place at The Brewery in London on November 29.

Peter Ramsey founded Movem in 2013 while he was studying at Bournemouth University.

Bad experiences with renting inspired him to create something better for both tenants and landlords.

Since then, the company has grown and is used by more than 90 universities across the UK to help students find accommodation.

In 2017 the company has expanded beyond the student rental sector and into the wider market.

Peter Ramsey from Movem in Brighton said, “I’m delighted to be shortlisted for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Amazon Growing Business Awards.

“Having the recognition of an industry leader like Amazon is a huge encouragement for me, and for young entrepreneurs all over the country.

“I can’t wait for the big night on 29th November.”

Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager, Amazon, said: “The depth and breadth of this year’s shortlist proves why the UK is a great place to set up and run a business.

“With a record number of applicants, there was a high level of competition in every category and I’d like to congratulate Movem and all of the businesses shortlisted and wish them all the best of luck on the awards night.”

Since its launch in 1999, the Amazon Growing Business Awards has celebrated exceptional businesses and outstanding entrepreneurs.

Previous winners include Go Ape, Innocent Drinks, Betfair, Lovefilm and Fever-Tree, while VIP guests to have graced the ceremony include Bill Gates.
