HAYWARDS Heath hairdressing salon Samantha Elizabeth is celebrating its first year in business, having doubled its clients in that time and brought in four new members of staff.

Salon owner Samantha Newton set up the salon in South Road, next to the Nationwide Building Society, in November 2016 having been co-owner of another town salon for nearly three years previously.

She said: “We are very proud that the level of service we provide means that not only have all our long-time clients moved with us but we have attracted so many more new clients as well.

“It has been a fantastic experience for us and one we want to build on.

“I set myself the goal of owning my own salon by the age of 30 and I literally made it with two weeks to spare.

“I’d part-owned and managed a salon with a business partner for nearly three years. When this partnership naturally came to an end, it gave me the confidence to go out on my own and move to new premises on the high street.”

Samantha started the salon with ten chairs and has seen the business flourish over the past year.

The salon is open seven days a week.

She puts this success down to one key reason.

“It’s all about the team. I believe you are only as good as the team around you and I have a fantastic group of girls working with me.

“We have a variety of skill sets and levels of experience and everyone has areas they particularly enjoy, whether that is short or long hair, colouring, highlights, balayage and ombré, bobs, bridal or party hair.

“No matter what it is our clients want we can offer it to them.

“What is crucial is keeping everyone up-to-date on industry trends.

“Hairdressing is one of the most vibrant and exciting vocations and it is important we stay on trend to bring new ideas and styles to the salon.

“Every team member gets training at Wella’s London Academy. It doesn’t matter if someone is an apprentice or advanced stylist.”
