A BRIGHTON heating contractor gave up two Saturdays to help a disabled children’s centre.

Jerome Williams joined the Heat for Good team at the Let’s Play centre.

Let’s Play is a charity providing after-school and holiday activities for more than 100 disabled children.

The work was part of Heat for Good, an initiative administered by German heating systems manufacturer Viessmann on behalf of heating industry suppliers and installers.

It donates equipment and fits it for free.

Jerome helped to install radiators, a boiler, gas cylinders from Calor and more than £1,500 worth of extra parts from industry suppliers.

Viessmann responded to Let’s Play’s Big Build Appeal which aims to raise £70,000 to transform its new premises into a safe, fun and inspirational space for the children, young adults, parents and carers that benefit from the centre’s play and support groups.

Jerome said: “When I heard about Let’s Play’s situation and the opportunity to make a difference, I was very keen to be involved and happy to give up my weekend.

“It’s a bit of a cliché for a heating installer but it gives you a warm feeling to be part of Heat for Good.

“It feels good to give something back.

“Nothing has been skimped on – the children and staff have one of the most advanced heating systems in the country and I hope they are all happy in their new centre.”

Deb Kerrison, Let’s Play project manager, said: “Our building had no heating in place at all so there was no option to “make do.”

“Without the help of Viessmann and installers such as Jerome, the heating investment would have been huge and eaten into precious funds, which we can now put towards new sensory equipment.

“The work of the team has been nothing short of a miracle.

“We are now able to move in and can offer many more children a place to come and play after school, as well as provide support to more parents and siblings.”

The Let’s Play’s children’s centre is based in in North Oxfordshire.
