A NEW Specsavers is opening in Portslade at the end of the month.

It will be opening in Boundary Road on the site of the old Store 21.

Adam Fuller, retail director at the Hove store and new Portslade shop, said: “The management team from Specsavers Hove are opening the store and we are excited to be coming to Portslade with a largely new local team.

“We are so excited to be opening the new store shortly after what has been a major refit.

“We wanted to bring the great customer service and range of glasses that local people associate with Specsavers even closer to home.

“We look forward to seeing lots of customers new and old when the store opens at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, the team at Hove has beenraising money for Brain Tumour Research.

Staff at the George Street store took part in Wear a Hat Day for the charity and it is holding a raffle for the cause which raised £50 in the first two days.

Mr Fuller said: ‘We would like to thank our customers for their generous contributions so far.

“We are hoping to have lots of much-needed cash for the charity by the end of our raffle.”

Staff from the Worthing branch pedalled for pounds with an in-store cycle marathon to help raise £620 during Wear A Hat Day.

Staff took it in turns to take on the gruelling challenge, which saw them clock up an impressive 200 miles on a static bike.

The team also donned a variety of weird and wacky headgear and encouraged customers to donate during the event with funds raised going directly to Brain Tumour Research.

Cheryl Spray, store director at Specsavers Worthing, said: “We wanted to go the extra mile to support Wear A Hat Day this year and while the challenge was tough, the whole team had a lot of fun taking part.

“We want to thank all our customers who donated on the day and helped cheer us on towards our goal.’
