A MAGAZINE founder has won a share of a £30,000 bursary.
The Make It Possible bursary, launched by smartphone manufacturer Huawei in January, helps people turn their dreams into a reality.
Brighton-based Clare Griffiths was a runner-up, receiving £5,000 to help her to launch Thrive! – a magazine for female business founders.
There were more than 800 entries and Clare was one of three finalists.
Her ambition is to launch a publication that inspires, informs and supports female entrepreneurs in Brighton and beyond.
Packed with business resources, interviews and creative inspiration, Thrive! aims to increase the start-up and success rates of female-run businesses and reduce the gender imbalance between male and female entrepreneurs.
Clare said: “I am thrilled to have been selected as a finalist for Huawei’s Make It Possible bursary.
“It’s an amazing feeling to have an established company believe and see the potential in my idea and I can’t wait to get started.
“The money will go a long way in helping me turn the magazine into a reality and cover the essential start-up costs.”
To help the three finalists fully unlock their potential, Huawei has also awarded each winner with a Huawei Mate 10 Pro device – the world’s first AI powered smartphone.
