A TEAM from Barclays is taking on the Three Peaks challenge in July to raise funds for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.

The team is made up of people from different areas of Barclays, all based in Sussex.

They will be joined by Mikayla Bernstein, a fundraiser from the charity, and are aiming to climb the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours.

In total they will hike for 24 miles, including 3,064m (10,052ft) of vertical ascent, and drive 462 miles through three countries.

Loren Charlton, marketing development manager for Barclays Premier Banking is leading the challenge, said: “About half the team have no experience of challenges like this so I’m trying to prepare them for the reality of walking down a mountain at two in the morning on very little sleep with sore feet and legs.

“It will be a real challenge, but one that will be worth it if we can raise a good amount for Chestnut Tree House.”

Chestnut Tree House, near Angmering, is the children’s hospice for Sussex, caring for children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Each member of Three Peaks team is hoping to raise £500 and Barclays has pledged to match the amount each employee raises, up to £1,000, meaning the team is hoping to donate a minimum of £10,000 to the hospice.

The challenge will take place on July 21 and 22.
