A TEAM of opticians have raised £1,350 for charity by completing the punishing Wolf Run.
Staff from Specsavers Chichester overcame inclement weather, muddy conditions and other obstacles to finish the demanding 10k racein Pippingford Park.
The group of 11 runners was able to smash its fundraising target of £1,000 thanks to generous donations from fellow colleagues and customers, with all proceeds going directly to the Encephalitis Society.
Specsavers Chichester chose to support the charity as the twin brother of one of the runners – Helen Billinghurst – was struck down with encephalitis on Christmas Day and is still being treated in hospital.
Kerry Downing, optical assistant at Specsavers Chichester, said: “The team was feeling pretty battered and bruised after the Wolf Run but it was worth it to raise so much money for a worthy cause. There was an incredible team spirit and we really enjoyed the day – despite the cold weather!”
