An independent movie has won a raft of awards. City of Dreamers picked up the gong for the Best Use of Music at the Las Vegas Indie Film Fest and the award for Best Feature Film at Southeast New Eng- land Film Music and Arts Festival in Rhodes Island in the United States.

The movie was made by Brighton- based Jump Start Productions and tells the story of Rose, a young girl making her way in the Brighton and Hove music scene. Norman Cook also appears in the film playing himself.

The film also took the Best Cinematography award and Ellen Cosgrove won Best Actor at the Women’s Independent Film Festival in Los Angeles. A City of Dreamers gig will take place at The Brunswick Pub in Holland Road, Hove, on May 31. It will feature Ellen and the Echo, The Black Fields and Tom Staniford.
