Brighton photographer fights voucher sites

A photography studio has launched a new offer.

Philip J Bigg, who runs Velvet Goldmine, plans a “pay what you can afford" price structure.

Mr Bigg at the firm’s premises in Cheltenham Place, Brighton, said competition from online voucher companies such as Groupon and Living Social is putting pressure on independent businesses.

He said: “The customer then expects all businesses to be able to offer similar deals which are just not economically viable. I saw a photography deal recently on Wowcher offering a makeover and photo-shoot for two people with champagne for £19. How is the company able to profit from that?"
