Fill it up: Steve Bannatyne at the EcoStream store
A new kind of filling station is hoping to start a trend.
Brighton and Hove has been picked as the launch site for the first EcoStream store.
The refill store in Western Road is open for business. Customers can stock up on their household products, beauty products, cooking ingredients and SodaStream flavours without buying new containers every time.
Store manager Steve Bannatyne said: “The shop will sell all goods by weight, dispensed by pumps into re-useable bottles. In the UK we are surrounded by empty plastic bottles which harm our countryside and shorelines.
“The EcoStream store seeks to revolutionise the way consumers buy their everyday items.
“The store will also sell a range of eco-friendly products that encourage consumers to re-use them, thereby reducing waste.
“Necessary day-to-day items such as cotton carrier bags, water filters and water bottles will be available to purchase alongside the liquid refills.”
