Traders have joined together to help each other make the most of their businesses.
Shops, cafés, a hair salon and an accountant in the Fiveways area of Brighton have launched a loyalty card scheme to help regular customers make savings.
A total of 3,000 cards, designed and illustrated by local artist Peter Spells, will be delivered to addresses in the Fiveways Directory during the next three months, while people can also pick one up free of charge from Kolkata, the fair trade fashion retailer in Grantham Road.
The idea for the card came from Kolkata owner Siobhan Wilson and Tim Clark, editor of the Fiveways Directory.
Ms Wilson said: “We wanted to reach out to those in the Fiveways area and encourage them to shop locally and use local businesses.
“In so doing, we hope to help preserve the unique character of this lovely area and its great sense of community.”
The scheme is open for other businesses to join.
