Nine firms and their staff have made donations worth more than £1,500 to Guild Care, a Worthing charity supporting older people and carers.

In the charity’s second annual Charity Shop Collections week, collection boxes were supplied for staff to fill with donations. Participating companies included: H D Tribe; Wannops LLP; Broadwater Manor School; HSBC Invoice Finance; Blackbelt Leaders; EDF Energy; ECE Architecture; Classic Collection Holidays and Thomas Eggar Solicitors.

The boxes were decorated by the children and young people with disabilities who attend Guild Care’s Ashdown Centre.

Rachael Duke, Guild Care’s Fundraising Manager, said “We would like to say a huge thank you to all the participating companies and their staff for their generosity. All the monies raised from the sale of these fantastic donations will go towards supporting local older people and carers.”

Charlotte Mitchell, EDF Energy’s Community Investment Specialist, said: “EDF Energy is really pleased to have supported Guild Care’s Charity Shop Collections Week. We had a fantastic response to the collection boxes at our Worthing office, with employees donating dozens of books, toys, clothes and unwanted Christmas presents. Sussex is really important to us. We have thousands of customers and more than 1,700 employees at our offices in Hove and Worthing, and so we’re delighted to support a charity that offers vitally-needed services to the local community.”
