FARADAY House - a unique social enterprise - will soon open at the former site of the East Sussex Disability Association.

The building is at 1 Faraday Close, Eastbourne.

It will provide high quality, affordable and accessible business facilities to voluntary, community groups and business partners.

Created by the charity Age UK East Sussex, the centre consists of serviced offices to rent on a short or long term basis, conference and meeting rooms for hire by the hour, a lovely garden event space and fundraising and business resources for hire too.

Centrally located, it benefits from fantastic public transport links with train station and bus stops adjacent.

Convenient for the A27, there is a car park with free parking and additional free roadside parking.

Richard Scott-Clark, commercial and business development director, said: “We’ve been delighted with the interest already shown in Faraday House.

“We were very keen to ensure the former ESDA site keeps supporting the local community.

“This social enterprise will provide professional business facilities for all, whilst covering its costs and furthering our work with local older people.”

Age UK East Sussex is an independent, locally-focused charity led by the needs and aspirations of those in later life.

It recognises that there are challenges for people as they age, and social isolation, poverty, age discrimination all impact on people’s quality of later life.

Its vision is that East Sussex is a great place to grow older.

ESDA was forced to close last year after 78 years because of funding cuts.

It had played a vital role in the community.

It was the only user-led organisation in the county working with all disabled people.

It has been unable to secure long-term funding so closed its doors.
