A YELLOW weather warning has been issued for ice.
The Met Office warning comes into force on Friday between 2am and 9am.
The weather service expects icy patches to form for a time on Friday morning as a band of rain, sleet and snow pushes northeastwards across parts of England.
A statement said: "Some roads and railways are likely to be affected leading to longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
"Some delays to air travel are also possible. Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are possible."
The Met Office's chief forecaster added: "A band of rain is expected to push northeastwards across England on Friday morning and for an hour or two, after the rain begins, it is possible that rain may fall onto previously frozen surfaces leading to ice.
"Ice is less likely to form in built-up areas of larger cities."
