SUSSEX households will have to pay 1.98 per cent more for policing from April.

Councillors voted this morning to approve the rise in the policing precept, as proposed by the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Katy Bourne.

The rise means Band D households in the county will be paying an extra £2.79 each per year, up to £143.91 per year.

It adds to last year’s 1.95 per cent rise, both supported by the public in consultations run by the PCC’s office.

The money is due to be spent on tackling cyber crime and child safety.
