Suspected human bones have been found near a pond.
Sussex Police have taped off the area and recovered the bones for analysis after the discovery in Parish Lane, Pease Pottage.
They were discovered by a man who was fishing.
A spokesman for the police said: "Police were informed on Wednesday (January 28) that some bones, which could possibly be human, had been found near a pond in Parish Lane, Pease Pottage.
"A member of public who was fishing found them on Monday (January 26)."
