A man suffered a broken jaw after being attacked on a night out in Brighton.

The 49-year-old victim from Staffordshire was walking towards the Spiegeltent in Steine Gardens when he was attacked sometime between 1am and 2am on Sunday May 17.

He was hit from behind by a man who then ran off.

Sussex Police have only today released details of the crime.

Officers want to speak to a small group of women who were sitting on the grass very close to where the assault took place and who may have seen what happened.

The suspect is described as tanned, between 5' 8" and 5' 9", of medium build and with medium length dark hair. He was wearing a dark round neck jumper.
