A teenager was sexually assaulted by a man who followed her around a shop.

The girl, believed to be in her early teens, was attacked by a man who spent "several minutes" following her in Boots the Chemist in Brighton's North Street.

The incident occurred at around 4.30pm on Saturday, July 4, and involved the girl being touched inappropriately by the offender.

He is described as a white bearded man, wearing a khaki baseball cap with a black cat logo above the peak, a light grey shirt with sleeves rolled up , check or tartan shorts and white trainers. He was carrying a black bag slung over his shoulder on a strap.

As well as seeking any witnesses, police are also keen to speak to the victim of the assault herself.

PC James Breeds, of the Brighton neighbourhood response team, said: "This amounts to degrading harrassment and sexual assault in a busy shop.

"I can promise the victim that Sussex Police will be there to offer her support and respect for her wishes in regards to this incident, but I do ask that she contact me along with anyone who may have seen what happened".
