Detectives attempting to identify a man found dead in a canoe have released a CCTV image of him.
The body of the kayaker was found on Yaverland Beach, in Sandown on the Isle of Wight 12 days ago. Officers have no idea who he is.
Police were called to the scene at 7.20pm after the man was found in yellow and black kayak on September 11.
The man was last seen at Brighton Canoes, in Newhaven, at around 4pm on September 8. He is believed to have had an Irish accent.
The man is white, aged between his mid 20s and mid 30s, with dark hair, blue eyes and nice teeth. He is described as ‘well built’ and was wearing beige shorts and a blue zip-up jacket. The kayak was a yellow and black ‘blow up’ Sevylor Conrad.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to try to establish the circumstances.
