GATECRASHERS wrecked a teenager’s 18th birthday party after finding out about the event on social media.

Birthday girl Alice Forsdick was pushed to the ground while her father tried to usher away the 50 plus uninvited guests.

Police are investigating after being called to the out-of-control party in College Lane, Hurstpierpoint, on Friday evening amid reports of vandalism.

Apples were also thrown at houses in nearby Wickham Hill, including one that smashed a man’s window.

One neighbour told The Argus: “There seem to be lots of people going down making a noise and then coming back later.

“It was really horrendous and there were broken bottles outside here the next morning.

“They were just loud, very loud. Some of them were trying to tell the traffic what to do.”

It is understood around 150 people were invited to the bash via a private group on Facebook.

However, the invitation was somehow extended to others.

Paul Forsdick, the father of the teenager celebrating her birthday, said: “The invite was to specific people. We had a list of invitees and ticked them off as they arrived, so it was properly organised.

“It was a good, fun atmosphere until the gatecrashers arrived. I was removing one of the gatecrashers when my daughter was assaulted.”

Sussex Police said officers were called to a report of a rowdy party at the house at 11.41pm.

Officers attended and gave “words of advice” to people at the party.

The spokesman added another call reported a group of youths vandalising cars, and one throwing a piece of wood at a taxi.

They added there had since been two reports of assaults, one at the party and one in a road close by, as well as the reported window smashing in nearby Wickham Hill.

Martin Penstone, retired, from Wickham Hill, told said he was woken shortly after 1am to the sound of his upstairs window smashing.

He said: “I heard the broken glass and then a sort of hysterical giggling outside on the road. There was an apple in the room.

“The insurers were very sympathetic but I have an excess on the policy so it is going to cost about £100.”

His wife, Carol Penstone, said: “We were glad it was not someone breaking in downstairs.”
