POLICE presence in the city will be increased on the weekend ahead of St George’s Day.
Although Sussex Police have had no confirmation of any event or protest taking place, more officers will be deployed in Brighton and Hove on Saturday.
Due to events held in the city on St George's day in previous years, plans have been put in place should there be any protests to help protect the public and allow people to go about their usual business and enjoy the city.
Chief Superintendent Nev Kemp said: "The safety and wellbeing of the public is paramount and therefore as a precaution, you will see a larger police presence in the city this weekend.
"As previous organisers have not communicated with us, it is impossible at this stage to say what – if any – disruption could be caused.
"At this stage we are not expecting to see large numbers of protest groups, and we are encouraging people to go about their business as usual.
“We will keep the public updated with any developments on the force website and also through our official social media channels.”
