A hit-and-run driver who collided with another car so seriously that it was spun around and left facing incoming traffic is being sought by police.

The crash took place on the A27 Arundel Road at around 11.30am on Thursday June 16, just west of the A280 Patching flyover.

A 27 year old woman from Worthing driving a blue Seat Ibiza car was travelling west towards Arundel on the dual carriageway.

A silver people carrier, make and model unknown, joined the A27 from the Patching slip road and hit the rear of the Ibiza.

That collision caused the Ibiza to hit the central reservation and spin through 180 degrees, so that it was left facing the wrong way in the overtaking lane.

The silver vehicle drove off without stopping.

The woman in the Seat was left with slight injuries and shock, for which she was treated at St Richard's Hospital Chichester.

Sergeant Anthony Crisp, of the Arundel road policing unit, has appealed for anyone who saw what happened or who may know where the silver people carrier went, to contact police.

They can do so by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phoning 101, quoting serial 553 of June 16.

Sgt Crisp added: "We'd like to thank other motorists who stopped to help the Seat driver. Any information about the vehicle that failed to stop would be welcome."
