A man has been arrested following an assault on a taxi driver in a high street in the middle of the afternoon.

The driver was in his Yellow Star cab at the rank outside Iceland in High Street, Bognor Regis at around 2.15pm on Tuesday June 28.

The 55-year-old was first attacked while sitting in his car, and once he got out a scuffle ensued which was broken up by bystanders.

His attacker, a man in his early 40s, then ran off. The victim was left with a torn t-shirt, scratches and bruising.

A 43-year-old man from Bognor Regis has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and bailed until 2 August while enquiries continue.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who became involved in separating the two men.
