A LODGER has been charged with the murder of his landlord and is due to appear in court this morning.
Bricklayer Alan Knight, 51, is accused of fatally stabbing 50-year-old David Bond, whose body was found at his home in Osmonde Close, Broadwater, Worthing, last Tuesday.
Knight was taken into custody in Sussex on Sunday afternoon after surrendering to Lancashire Police in Fleetwood in the early hours of Friday.
He was arrested but needed hospital treatment for self-inflicted wounds before travelling. He was remanded in custody to appear before Brighton Magistrate’s Court today.
Osmonde Close was cordoned off all week while forensics teams searched the house.
Mr Bond’s relatives paid tribute to him as a “gentle giant”.
