A TRAIN passenger was reported to be in possession of a knife at Brighton Station this morning.
The first call came in to police shortly after 7am to say a man with a knife was boarding a train on platform 4.
Sussex Police and British Transport Police (BTP) responded.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "We were called to reports that one male passenger in Brighton Station was possibly in possession of a knife.
"We are offering and providing support to BTP."
Later, a BTP spokeswoman added: "We were called to Brighton Station to reports of a male with a knife.
"Police attended and a satisfactory stop [search] was carried out.
"The man was found to be in possession of small workmen’s knives which he voluntarily surrendered and advice was given.
"The train was held at Brighton while officers attended.
"There were no suspicious circumstances."
No one was hurt.
