A TEENAGER has been arrested after a woman told police she had been raped after a night out.

The victim, aged in her 20s, accepted an offer of a lift home from a man after leaving a bar in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

She told police she got into a car, described as a black hatchback, before being driven to an area of woodland near Rusthall, where it is reported the man then forced her from the car and raped her.

Detective Inspector Geoff Payne, of Kent Police, said: "After the incident the victim reported she tried to walk away but was followed by the suspect. We believe she approached another man to seek assistance, but it would appear he was unable to understand her due to her distressed state.

"This man may have important information which can help with our enquiries and may even have also have spoken to the suspect. I would urge him or anyone else who may have seen anything suspicious to contact us immediately."

The incident took place at around 3am, on Saturday October 8. The victim reported the attack three days later.

A 19-year-old man from the Uckfield area was arrested yesterday (October 12) on suspicion of rape. He currently remains in police custody.
