A MAN has been arrested after a suspected arson at a kebab shop.

Firefighters from Eastbourne, Seaford and Hailsham were called to Tommy’s Kebab House in Susans Road, Eastbourne, to reports of a fire in a storeroom by the kitchen.

One person was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation, but no injuries were reported.

A fire investigated has concluded the blaze on Monday (October 24) was suspicious.

A 70-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson and released on bail until December while enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Sean Stapley, of Sussex Police, said: "If you saw anyone running away from the kebab shop, which backs on to the Iceland car park, at about that time, or if you saw anyone acting suspiciously, we would like to hear from you."

Witnesses should contact Sussex Police via email on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 668 of October 24.
