A builder will go on trial after pleading not guilty to dangerous driving following a hit-and-run crash which was viewed more than three million times online.
Pedestrian Andy Payne, 53, was flung into the air when a Fiat 500 smashed into him as he crossed the road. He has since managed to make a recovery.
CCTV of the hit-and-run in Montague Place, in the Kemp Town area of Brighton, went viral following the crash at 3.40pm on January 14 last year.
At a plea hearing at Hove Crown Court, Adam McDermott, 32, of Vernon Terrace, Brighton, denied causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
McDermott also pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Robyn Burns, 29, also of Vernon Terrace, Brighton, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and 31-year-old Clark Walker, of Ditchling Rise, Brighton, admitted conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Judge Christine Henson QC set a trial, to last between five and seven days, for October 2. All three defendants were granted bail.
