CRIMINAL damage in London Road will be among the topics being discussed by the area’s local action team tonight.

It comes after three businesses had their windows broken in an incident on Saturday night.

Santander, Aono & Co and Costa were all attacked.

Philip Wells of the London Road Local Action Team said the area remained one of the “jewels of Brighton, a safe place, and welcome to everybody”.

However he added: “It is a great shame that cuts to policing have led to issues not flagged often, and issues can become neglected due to the lack of support given to the police.

“The communication between the police and local action groups has become less formal, less recognised and police forces have had to do more with less resources.”

The LAT will meet tonight at Calvary Church in Viaduct Road, Brighton, at 6.30pm.

Sussex Police said a Southwick man had been charged with criminal damage.

He was due before Brighton Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Witnesses to anti-social behaviour are advised to call Sussex Police on 101 or contact the Safe in the City casework team reporting line on 01273 292735.
