TWO more protesters have been arrested at the site of a major oil drilling project.

The two campaigners yesterday locked themselves together at the entrance to UK Oil and Gas Investments in Broadford Bridge near Billingshurst and were later arrested by police.

Seven protesters have now been arrested at the site since drilling began at the end of May.

Last Monday, three people were arrested after locking themselves together at the entrance. Connor Heffey, 25, an animal trainer of no fixed address, Charlotte Feasey, 31, unemployed, of Padstow Walk, Crawley and Daniel White, 23, unemployed, of Adversane Lane, Adversane, have all been charged with using violence or intimidation on person, family or property to compel activity or abstention from lawful activity and were bailed to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on July 4.

A 61-year-old man from Lindfield, arrested on suspicion of wilful obstruction of the highway on Thursday, May 25, has been released under investigation.

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on the B2133 on Thursday, June 1.

He had been allowed 20 minutes of “slow walking”’ and had then been warned to leave the road.

He became abusive to a police officer and was arrested on suspicion of failing to give name/address to an accredited person and acting in an anti-social manner. He tried to run off and was further arrested for escaping from lawful custody. He was later released under investigation.
