A CHILD was taken to hospital after being beaten up outside a supermarket.

The 12-year-old was attacked by a man who punched him to the ground and then kicked him as he lay there.

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to about the incident in Bognor on Sunday, July 23.

The child was left with cuts and bruises and was treated in hospital after the assault, which happened just after 2.30pm behind Morrison’s in Bedford Street, near the entrance to the Regis Centre multi-storey car park.

The suspect is white, in his fifties, 5ft 7in, of average build, with short, greying hair and a beard.

He was wearing a navy blue short-sleeved T-shirt with a patterned front, grey or blue shorts and possibly flip-flops.

Officers want to speak to anyone who saw what happened, who noticed the man or may know who he is.
