A MAN has been charged after leading police on a chase through a residential street.

Police officers crashed into the car to end the pursuit along Portland Road, Hove, around 1.45am on Sunday, October 8.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said the police cars tactically stopped the vehicle which hit four parked cars.

No one was hurt.

A 25-year-old man has been charged with driving without a licence, failing to stop for police, driving without insurance and possessing a class A drug.

He is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court next week.

Cllr Robert Nemeth, for Wish Ward, said: “I went straight to the scene of the incident the following morning and spoke to several of the residents whose cars bore the brunt of the crash including one family with two damaged vehicles.

“ It is my understanding that no residents were injured, which is a relief, and I hope that no police officers were hurt either.”
