TWO MEN have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in a flat fire.

Emergency services were called to the incident in Warren Drive in Crawley at 5.30pm on Wednesday.

It was reported that emergency services tried to carry out CPR treatment on a woman aged 53, but she was declared dead.

Her relatives have been informed, and her death is being treated as suspicious, police say.

Two fire engines were sent to the scene at 5.40pm, and after putting out the fire they left by 6pm.

The fire was in the lounge of the flat, and was contained within that room.

Two men who were also inside the property at the time of the fire were later arrested on suspicion of murder, and remain in police custody.

Forensics are being carried out at the scene, however police are in the very early stages of the investigation.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote Operation Brevis.
