Carlo James Compton, 24, of Oriental Place, Brighton, admitted stealing from Maplin Electronics in London Road, Brighton. He was given a 12 day community order and ordered to pay £184.98 compensation.

McKenzie James Van-Mier, 28, of Kensington Gardens, Brighton, admitted stealing sunglasses worth £90 from Debenhams in Churchill Square, Brighton. He also admitted stealing various items of meat worth £12.61 from the Co-op in North Street and various food items and disposable BBQs worth £16.43 belonging to the 99p Store in North Street. He was jailed for four weeks.

Diana Marie Hughes, 33, of Tillstone Street, Brighton, admitted stealing foods worth £49.35 from Tesco in Lottbridge Drove, Hastings, meat worth £64.61 from Waitrose in Western Road, Brighton, £100 worth of meat from the Co-op in London Road and £31.10 of meat from the Co-op in St James' Street. She was given a 12 month supervision order and ordered to take part in a drug dependency programme. She was also ordered to pay a £60 surcharge.

Mpilo Mthunzi, 36, of Hereford Court, Hereford Street, Brighton, admitted possession of cocaine, MDMA, cannabis and cannabis resin. He also admitted failing to surrender to custody at Brighton Magistrates Court. He was given a community order and told to take part in a drug dependency programme. He was also ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge.

Andrew Stephen Paine, 33, of Fletching Close, Brighton, admitted assault by beating. He was given a 12 month supervision order and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Alexander Joseph Smith, 42, of c/o St George's Place, Brighton, admitted stealing three bottles of champagne worth £90 from Marks and Spencer in Brighton. He was fined £50 and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £80 costs.

Craig Stokes, 43, of Beaconsfield Road, Brighton, admitted damaging a Ford S-Max and assault. He was fined a total of £150 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and £85 costs.

Gregory Thirtle, 50, of Merevale, Brighton, admitted driving a VW Transporter in Hollingbury Place, Brighton, while unfit to drive through drugs. He was fined £150 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £50. He was also banned from driving for 12 months.

David Master Mercer, 19, of Hampshire Court, Upper St James's Street, Brighton, was found guilty of assault by beating. He admitted breaching a suspended sentence order. He will be sentenced at a future date.

Desmond Wilson, 26, of Grand Parade, Brighton, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour. He was given a six month community order and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge.

Oscar Lee Markworth, 40, of New Steine Mews, Brighton, admitted stealing a bottle of aftershave worth £57.50 from Boots in North Street. He also admitted breaching a conditional discharge imposed by Crawley Magistrates Court. He was fined £73 and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £40 costs.

Emmanuel Frimpong, 45, of Brading Road, Brighton, admitted possession of cannabis, He was given a 12 month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

John Patrick Farr, 70, of Timor House, Withyham Avenue, Saltdean, admitted causing £300 damage to a kitchen window of a property in Lustrells Vale. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation.
