Students at Ardingly College have achieved the best set of GCSE results in the school’s history.

Two thirds of the 118 girls and boys in Year 11 attained all A*s or As and an impressive 98% achieved A*-C grades, with 89% attaining A*-B.

Three of the top performers earned 33 A*s between them.

Tom Cunningham from Balcombe, Sophie Crooks from Lindfield and Ben Belcher from Horsham, each gained 11A*s.

Sophie, who is also an accomplished sportswoman and musician, is the recipient of the school’s Mark Lawrence Scholarship for outstanding academic and all-round achievement.

Ardingly College headmaster Ben Figgis said in a statment: “Many congratulations to all our GCSE students for this impressive set of results - our best ever. This demonstrates the importance of preparation and hard work by students and staff.

“The future success of our students depends upon academic rigour and building good life skills to use beyond school, and that is what we are aiming for and achieving at Ardingly College.”
