A FORMER Cardinal Newman teacher has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student while he was a teacher at the school.
Andrew Berry, 47, unemployed, of The Strand, Brighton, has been charged with two offences of sexual activity with a 17-year old girl while in a position of trust.
He is on bail and due to appear at Brighton Magistrates Court on Thursday September 29.
It follows an investigation by Brighton detectives into a report received in June 2015.
The alleged offences are not said to have taken place at the school in Upper Drive, Hove, but at Berry's address.
The Argus exclusively revealed in January a member of staff at the Hove school, in The Upper Drive, was removed from his post after a Sussex Police investigation was launched into alleged sexual relationship with a teenage pupil.
