LOCAL ACROBAT GOING FOR GOLD

Amalie Small is an 11 year old girl with strength, determination and ambition to be the best she can be. She has been awarded 5 medals in the last year for her acrobatics, vault and floor work, four of which are gold. Overall she has 8 medals for vault and partnered floor work and 13 badges for grades and awards. Amalie hopes to further her journey at the Regional’s in November 2017.

Amalie started gymnastics in 2011 at the age of 5. With the support from her family, she has trained 4 times a week at leisure centres across West Sussex focusing mainly on acrobatics. Progressing through all the levels, Amalie was also awarded a medal for getting her 8-1 proficiency awards.

In 2016, she gained a bronze medal for vault and competed in Sussex obtaining a bronze for her overall acrobatics which consisted of vault and partner-work. She trained extremely hard from 2016 to achieve her goal of gaining a gold medal for her overall acrobatics in 2017.

However, this year Amalie has won 4 gold medals for partnered floor work, and a silver medal for vault. She has also reached her goal of achieving a gold medal for her overall acrobatics. This shows hard work does pay off!

“My favourite thing about acrobatics is being creative, working as a team and learning new skills, but also competing!” - Amalie Small

Amalie hopes to further her gymnastics career to hopefully compete at nationals in 2018 , to continue developing her skills and learn some new tricks!
