A SCHOOLGIRL has earned a place on a sought-after scheme in her quest to become a professional dancer.

Talia Warren of Lancing College Preparatory School in Hove learnt that she had been successful in her audition for the CAT (Centre for Advanced Training) scheme for Contemporary Dance.

The CAT scheme is a national intensive dance programme for 12 to 15-year-olds, linked to the London School of Contemporary Dance, who display exceptional potential and passion for dance.

More than 100 young dancers auditioned for a place in this select group and now the selected 18 pupils from Brighton will now follow weekly dance classes, choreography workshops, theatre trips and local and national performances at Trinity Laban or The Place in London.

This is the third year that she has been doing contemporary dance with Sandra Barber and the second year in a row that a pupil from Lancing College Prep has been accepted onto this scheme.
