THE Youth in Action Education Awards is back for a third year and returns to its original home.

Last year, the awards took a fresh approach with a rejig of categories and a new host at the home of Sussex County Cricket Club – The County Ground in Hove.

The Argus crowned 15 new education champions including West Blatchington Primary School, which picked up School of the Year and it’s headteacher Rachel Simmonds was awarded Headteacher of the Year.

In 2016, The Youth in Action Education Awards will be held at the American Express Community Stadium in Falmer – home of Brighton and Hove Albion.

Last year’s host Gareth Davies will once again be heading up the ceremony which will be held on the morning of Sunday, June 12.

He said: “Last year was an amazing afternoon, but we’ve decided to mix it up again by holding it a bit earlier in the day to give families the opportunity to spend the rest of their Sunday celebrating.

“We’re so excited to be heading back to where it all began in 2014 and it really is a top class venue for what will be a top class day.

“I can’t wait for the nominations to start rolling in and for the anticipation to build.

“Seeing and hearing the reactions of the winners last year when our sponsors read out the winners was pretty special, and I’m sure there will be plenty more of that come June 10.”

Hundreds of votes flooded into the paper last year for nominees in 15 categories.

Voting takes two minutes at theargus.co.uk/yiaawards and if you know an inspirational youngster or someone who helps bring out the best in students and budding sports stars – there is a category for them.

The Argus’ managing director Dawn Sweeney said: “This has become one of the paper’s biggest days on the calendar and with each year we seem to be growing.

“This year is no different and we can’t wait to reward those worthy winners with the recognition they so richly deserve.

“Nominating is so easy, so get your entries in and we might see you on stage on the big day come June 10.”
