Who's winning the election poster war in your street?

Sussex's green spaces may be bursting out in a riot of spring colour - but its streets are coming out in decidedly more electoral hues.

With the general election now in full swing, poster war has effectively been declared in the windows and gardens of the county's households.

We want to know who's winning the battle in your area. Are you in a hippy paradise of Green posters, or is your true blue neighbourhood awash with Conservative posters?

Are Labour's candidates beaming out from your neighbours' windows, or is the Clegg effect boosting the Lib Dem quota in your street?

Whether it's on your way to work or the corner shop, make a log of what you see and leave a comment below, specifying where you've seen them.

If you are connected with a party in any way, please feel free to leave a comment - but be up front about who you are.

You can also upload your pictures to our Flickr group here - which is also a home for any candid candidate shots you may have taken of the candidates on the election trail.

And if you live in Brighton Pavilion, you can plot any sightings of candidates on our map here.

No sign of the candidates let alone the posters in my road are the candidates frightened to venture out onto the streets and get the views of the voting public,or are they scared of the responce they might get.

I have walked from the top to the bottom of my road and there is not one election poster. In fact, having spoken to a few people, there have been no canvassers either. Don't any of the parties want to get in?

I live in North Laine and we have 3 Green window posters in our street. Nothing for the other parties. Have spotted 1 Conservative poster nearby. No Labour spotted so far.

I walked to work this morning down Islingword road and it was green as far as the eye could see. Except for one UKIP poster at the bottom of the hill.

I'm in westbourne street, hove. Apart from a couple of flyers through my letterbox you'd have no idea it is the 30th most margin seat in the country. Wife at home with the baby most of the time- no one has knocked on the door from any party either

Defintely green in the North Laine. I spotted seven or eight on saturday. Labour and green in Kemptown. Lib Dem in Newhaven (Norman Baker canvassers everywhere).

No posters anywhere around here. But then Worthing West isn't a marginal seat and no one is making much effort to chase votes. This election is being decided elsewhere.

We've had a fairly insulting communication from the sitting Tory MP in which he just quotes a speech by John Major. It's mostly negative campaigning (yawn) with nothing on local issues at all. But then he only has to get his core Tory vote out ("we Consevatives have done it before and now need to do it again") and he doesn't have to listen to anyone else.

Bring on electoral reform where we all have a vote of equal weight and where we can vote for the party of our first choice without having to think of tactical voting. And a parliament that is truly representative of our diverse society.

Believe me, if you live in Brighton Pavillion, you're in the front line of this election. Every time I visit I see canvassers out on the street, including your Tory candidate.

The Worthing Conservative teams are out canvassing every day. We have hand delivered literature to tens of thousands of residents. We have also posted letters to those registered to vote by post. Whilst we cannot get to every door rest assured we do not take our electorate for granted. Our Parliamentary candidates have been campaigning daily with us.

On a personal basis as a candidate in the local elections I do not ask supporters to put posters in their windows. However, I am always happy to supply a poster to those who ask for one. I think people are capable of making their decisions without seeing who their neighbors are voting for.

Green posters and boards all round where I live by; London Road, Preston Park and North Laines.

I've seen 2 Labour, 1 UKIP, a BNP and 3 Tory but the Green posters probably outnumber the others combined by at least 10-1.

In Lewes & surrounding areas have seen Lib-Dems (Norman Baker) & Tory, just 1 Labour poster. As I travel round Sussex a lot, I would say an even split between Libs & Tories.

Have you seen Simon Kirby, the Tory Kemptown PPC.
You would not put that mug up in the window even if you were going to vote for him.
Look in today's Argus, there is an absolutely horrific photo of him.
He may have dropped the double barrelled surname in the hope of gaining voters, but the toff hair cut and pin stripe suit makes him look a laughing stock.
He says he grew up on a council estate....not the bloody one I grew up on I can tell you....perhaps he meant Windsor Castle.

I have lived in Worthing and been of voting age for over 30 years and have never been canvassed for my vote by any political party in any of 7 general elections.

Friends in Brighton Pavilion are reporting doorstep visits from each of 4 parties, some more than once.

How much money is the Conservative Party pouring into marginal seats compared to safe seats? Why are the Lib Dems pumping more money into Mid Sussex?

Because under our electoral system some votes are worth a lot more than others. This election isn’t going to be influenced one way or the other by what happens in Worthing West so long as the Tories get their core vote out. Everybody knows this. No wonder many people feel completely disenfranchised, but the two main political parties seem to be completely in denial about this democratic deficit.

The sitting MP in Worthing West couldn’t even be bothered to write his own piece for the Tory ‘In Touch’ newsletter. Two sides of A4 and he manages 5 lines to top and tail the reproduction of a speech by John Major. The speech is clearly addressed to ‘We Conservatives’, it’s full of negative campaigning and of course has no mention of any local issues.

In my book that’s taking the electorate for granted. He couldn’t possibly do that in a marginal seat and expect to get elected. Safe seats are another part of the sickness in our democracy.

I have seen a piece of ham stuck in someone's window! I have consulted with my Mighty Horse but we are no closer to discovering the political alliegance of the ham owner. Other things have included ornamental cats, two happy cockatoos, and a warning about "messing with my bins". May I also use this opportunity to remind whoever it is that is messing with my bins to stop, or fear the wrath of Spooner!

Wow, my security word was "count-poster". That's pretty creepy. ARE YOU READING MY MIND, ARGUS??

maybe the cockatoos were happy because the cats were only ornamental and couldn't eat them so they celebrated with a ham dinner!

Loads of Green posters and placards around Preston Park. Some labour, one or two Tory. Unfortunately our placard was nicked overnight. Been a few cases of anti Green nastyness around here. We don't think it's the Tory's.........

I can't see the point in putting posters in your window telling people how to vote. I've already decided that i'm voting for "anybody but the Green Party" and their 8% a year fuel duty rise thanks very much. Its not as if seeing a tatty poster in some eco loony's window is going to suddenly make me change my mind.

one house, one poster - proves nothing. there's so many multiple occupation addresses in this town that each household could have 2 or 3 legal voters living there but not all voting what the poster in the front window says. my old flat was at the rear of the building so nobody would have seen what was posted in the window. the greens 'might not' get in, not everyone likes there anti-car ideas. i think in this town people just think it's trendy to vote green and it wouldn't suprise me to see 'greenies' turning up to vote on polling day in thier 4x4's clutching take away starbucks cups

I walked past a student house last night on my way home from the pub and there was a Green poster in the window...every light was on in the house and all the curtains open and a male student had a tv on while he was sat at his computer.
It would have been a smashing photo.
It's nice to be idealistic when you are young, although I am not sure the neighbours will like the full drum kit I also saw.

How much rainforest has the Green Party destroyed to produce their posters? Why bother voting for the Greens anyway? Its not like they'll ever be in power with their crippling tax proposals and loony ideas.
Maybe B&H Council could increase Pavillion's council tax by 40% next year if they vote Caroline Lucas as their MP as they can obviously afford it?

Just counted the ones in my street (I'm not saying which one, but it's in the Fiveways area.): 15 Green, 5 Labour, 1 Lib Dem.
Interestingly the Green posters are almost exclusively in houses/flats occupied by professional couples - i.e. the ones who can afford to vote Green.

The election is in 3 days time and I am still waiting for someone, anyone, to call about my vote. Are there no canvassers for this election or are there not enough police on the streets to protect them from irate voters? I have so much I want to say to them.

Me too Granny. I am in the Kemptown constituency and I hear the candidates are all holed-up in the Saltdean/Peacheaven area where they think they can catch the floating voters.
They don't give a toss about us folk actually in the town. They probably think we are students or unemployed so not important and in the 'deans' they can catch mostly families.
I still want to know if Simon Kirby sends his kids to local state schools and if he has parents on pensions like I have who struggle by without any help.

I took a phone call on Sunday afternoon! over the Bank Holiday from a man who purported to be from the Green Party, telling me how great Caroline Lucas is and how she has a large majority. I laughed and told the chap I had already voted; he then asked who I voted for, I replied that information was for me and the ballot box alone. He kept on and asked if it was a green vote? Bloody cheek I thought, I told him it was not. The called ended rather abruptly.

Agree with monty re it being trendy to be seen to be voting Green in Brighton-.
In Fiveways Green posters outnumber Labour two to one.Lots of traditional Labour voters now turning Green.
Concerned that the Tories will get in-you have to ask yourself is it really worth risking chance of Tories winning here and nationally by voting Green? I know Caroline Lucas seems a strong candidate but have been very impressed with Nancy Platt.

Hi Victoria Sponge. You are obviously a labour activist. Unfortunately you are wrong. All of the data from the last 5 years and on the doorstep shows that the Greens are in the lead in Pavilion. If you want to keep out the Tory in Pavilion you have to vote Green, end of. Why not try some positive policies instead of scare mongering ? Your lot turned up on my doorstep telling the most astonishing porkies about the Greens. This has proved counter productive as some of my undecided neighbours are now voting Green having found some of your Labour canvassers "negative and aggressive".

Hi grumpyoldgreen, am not a member of Labour party but proud to be voting Labour as feel that Labour have changed this country for the better(minimum wage, abolition of Section 28,civil partnerships, Sure Start, reduction of class sizes in infant schools, reduction in hospital waiting lists, investment in schools and hospitals etc)Yes there are lots of things I disagree with (Iraq war, pallying up to banks, I have a long list). I think it is easier to attack the Labour government as they have been in power.

I am not a member of any party myself, but have been working hard alongside Simon Kirby and others as I know who will be best for us locally and nationally
