Profile:
Why I want to be an MP: Bognor Regis and Littlehampton should have the best future possible and its MP has a responsibility to take a leading role in achieving this.
Bognor’s regeneration process must be revived as soon as possible and with a better vision than Arun put forward.
Littlehampton town centre and its future is one of the biggest issues facing the town.
The priority must be to strengthen the town centre.
Clearly the work on regeneration by Arun District Council did not protect the town from the worst effects of the recession in the way it should have if it had been successful in strengthening the
community and economy.
Nick Gibb has got the local housing issue entirely wrong.
His campaign against the eco town at Ford means the housing numbers it would have covered have been pushed by Arun on to the towns of Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, meaning these towns will have
to take even more housing on top of the developments already allocated.
Many residents tell me the towns have taken their fair share already and this housing has none of the guarantees in infrastructure and high-quality housing that the eco town had been given.
People have a clear choice in this election to elect a new MP – myself – who will press for an eco town at Ford and avoid the risk of overdevelopment of Bognor Regis and North Littlehampton with
all the social problems that can cause.
I know Littlehampton’s biggest priority is to rebuild Littlehampton Hospital.
I am proud Labour’s Littlehampton councillors led the campaign, collecting thousands of signatures.
I’ll continue to press to get building started.
Ensuring residents are given the best healthcare will be my priority.
