Lloyds TSB is looking to recruit 100 new members of staff in Brighton.

The bank is on the hunt for enthusiastic new recruits to work at the contact centre at Sussex House, 1-9 Gloucester Place, Brighton.

It already employs more than 450 people from the ages of 18 upwards at Sussex House to handle a wide range of over the phone queries from customers. The centre receives around 8000 calls per hour.

Sally Jones-Evans, managing director of telephone banking at Lloyds said: "We have a wide range of full and part time roles available so it's incredibly easy for people to find a way of working that suits their lifestyle.

"Whether that's weekdays, weekends, evenings or early mornings it's entirely their choice. We work around the clock so there's a great deal of flexibility." Cheryl Osbourne, core banking advisor at Sussex House said: "Working at the contact centre is really flexible and fits in perfectly around a busy home life.

"There's loads of opportunity to develop your career and I would definitely recommend it for somebody looking for a flexible, friendly working environment."

The bank is looking for people to fill a range of part time and full time roles and is stressing that the part time roles will be beneficial for parents who need to take childcare into account.

Amy Mankelow from Lloyds said: "No experience in banking is necessary. The most important thing is a good telephone manner so people who have worked in retail are often well equipped.

"The salary will depend on the role and on the experience of the candidate. Applicants don't have to have worked at Lloyds in the past."

The job will involve handling customer queries like credit card enquiries, changes of address and statement queries.

Successful applicants should also get a range of benefits including medical healthcare, childcare vouchers and even cash bonuses. There will be paid holidays and a flexible system of 'cash for holidays' is in place for those who don't manage to take their holiday. they should be offering these jobs around the year 11 pupils due to finish school this year. then they would not go onto benefits. im sure they can fill all 100 places from the leavers, by making the jobs worthwhile, both financially, and showing how having a job improves your standing amongst your peers

Probably not much good offering jobs to school leavers - they need people who can read and write (like these postings)

This brought back bad memories, I worked there for a few years in the early nineties in their credit card call centre. You had to put your hand up to ask to go to the loo and when the sandwich lady came round you couldn't even go and look at what she had, you had to get your supervisor to go and get something for you. I hope things have improved because they were slave-drivers.

I know people who work for Lloyds TSB and are seriously p*ssed off with the working environment there. It's all targets , targets and more targets and if you don't reach your quota then they make your life very difficult indeed. Maybe they've got their management training from Inkfish perhaps??!!

The office Lloyds/TSB is moving into later this year is brand new, and currently empty. I work next door, and these offices are very good, with a nice view of Hove Park. Staff will be happy here, and parking should be a lot better for them.

I've been working in the call centre for the last 5 years and I have found the job challenging and rewarding. I have just been promoted to a team leader, the befits the bank provides are the best I have revived from any employee. Such as the sports social which offer a wide range of actives such as discounts on holiday's west end shows and day trips

I recently joined the department here at Sussex House, as part of the Lloyds TSB Finance Graduate scheme, this is my 3rd placement and is defiantely one of the best! I am gaining lots of experience in managing people, and also myself! Whilst it's true that there are targets, they are all really achievable and the bonuses you can get are really great!! Everyone has been really friendly to me and what I would say in response to some of the previous postings...is come along and see for yourself!

I have been working in the call centre for 2 and a half years, in this time I have made my way up to a team leader position. I have been given support and encouragement within this time to achieve my goals and targets. there is such a friendly atmosphere and great benefits fot the achieveable targets. If your looking to progress yourself its a great place to start!

I also left at the end of 2006 & glad that i did. They are nothing but bullies and they always used to give you grief and hassle for no reason, I still hae a fiend that works there and they keep introducing stupid ideas to p*ss you off and make you leave.

Yes I bet it is one of your best Graduate placements, I have been reading on the Lloyds web site 'www.youcanatlloydst
sb.co.uk" and it's replacement website which is aimed at potential University Graduates, and the comparison of benefits that you guys get compared to a humble Band 8 Customer Service adviser is obscene, firstly you get 5 weeks holiday a band 8 gets just four weeks and if he/she wants another week has to pay for it out of flavours, which leads on to the other issue that is a Lloyds graduate gets a starting wage of about £24,000 depending on the program are on, a band 8 adviser will probably start of with about £14,000 but guess who will be getting the most stress, a lloyds graduate will receive more interesting varied work to do which will then open up more doors for you, a band 8 will only be given the single task of listening to customers with complaints all day with probably no prospects if his/her face does not fit to change jobs, But the issue that really angers me is the support Lloyds gives to it's graduates Re. the ACCA accountancy exams or the CIMA exams, lloyds will provide Three extra days paid holiday for each exam taken also will pay for all the exam material and the pass marks will probably be reflected in your salary in the future, now guess what a Band 8 adviser receives for doing the same exams, that's wright a big fat nothing, i.e use your own money, study in your own time, take the exam in your own time but only if lloyds TSB allows the holiday time off to take the exam. So you see why I can appreciate why you like lloyds TSB.
