A romantic is desperately searching for a woman he believes could be 'the one' after a brief encounter.

Love-struck IT consultant Rob Wassell passed the mystery woman while riding his bike and has set up a website to try and find out who she is.

Describing the encounter on May 21 as "one of the strangest experiences of my life", the 39-year-old said he knew his quest was a bizarre thing to do but said he would rather wear his heart on his sleeve than face a lifetime of regret that he did nothing.

The woman, who stepped to one side to let Rob pass and smiled at him at Cuckmere Haven, near Seaford, was wearing baggy black trousers, a light-coloured sleeveless top and a headscarf.

As she walked away, Rob took a photo of her on his camera - a memento which he has used to try and trace her by putting it on his website www.mysterywoman.co.uk.

On the site, Rob has written to the woman in the hope that through publicising his search she will read his letter and contact him.

Predictable remarks from dismal blokes above. Well to buck the trend, then: good luck Rob. Nice to see romance is still alive and well. On a practical note I guess I don't quite understand why you stopped to take a picture as opposed to simply cycling after her but hey, that's not the point. Hope you meet up and she hasn't already been scared off by the media attention. Best of British fella.

I'm a friend of Rob's. He's a genuinely lovely guy with a cracking sense of humour and I'm glad to hear that romance is not dead, which it obviously is with the guys who have left negative comments here. I ask myself why you have even bothered taking the time to comment on the story if you are so against it!!!

I'm a mate of Rob's and he's a lovely, decent guy with a cracking sense of humour. Its a shame some people have to leave discouraging and nasty comments about someone they don't even know. Stop being so judgemental. If you dont like a story and aren't prepared to offer your support then why waste the time posting a reply?!!!

In my opinion this is psychotic and not romantic behaviour. I visted http://rwassell.com as suggested above and there is a list of poems written by Mr Wassell. The first is entitled 'Abduction' the last is 'The Obituary of Robert Wassell. Bit creepy i would say.

I am fed up with this story, its nothing short of narrow minded homophobia and why isn't the Argus writing about Adam searching for Steve for a change, why are us Gays sidelined all the time, its not right and its time that heterosexuality was criminalised, because it’s just not a natural activity.
