TRIBUTES have been paid to an inspirational mother of four who has died from cancer.

Louise Howes passed away at home in Brighton in the arms of her husband Rupert and with the rest of her family around.

Mrs Howes, 46, caught the attention of people around the world with the Cancer is Pants campaign launched in 2015.

This aimed to raise £50,000 to send her to Germany for pioneering immunotherapy treatment after she was told her advanced breast cancer had spread to her liver and was terminal.

It was created by her daughter Ella, 20, and sons Tom, 18, William, 16 and Ned, 13, who also used Facebook, Twitter and other social media to help spread the message.

Supporters were encouraged to post a picture of themselves wearing pants on their head and make a donation to the campaign.

Mrs Howes had several trips to Germany and the treatment helped extend her life for a further two years.

However she began to deteriorate suddenly earlier this month and passed away last Wednesday,

In a message posted online Ella said: “The Cancer is Pants campaign helped in so many ways.

“It showed mum how much people cared and how much love and support there is in the community. It enabled mum to access pioneering treatments that gave her so much hope and improved her quality of life over these past two years. Hope kept us all going and that is what Cancer is Pants gave us.

“We cannot thank you enough for all of your support, love and kindness and for making the campaign what it was. As a family we are staying strong as we know that mum will always be with us.”
