A CABLE management manufacturer has made a donation to its local NHS.

Marshall Tufflex, based on the Churchfields Industrial Estate in Hastings, has donated ten hand-held whiteboards to Newington Ward at the Conquest Hospital.

The whiteboards help aid communication for patients who are hard of hearing and those who have general communication difficulties.

Patients can use them to write or draw to help them communicate.

Matron Ruth Chhetri said: “A relative of a patient suggested writing aids would be a useful communication tool to help patients who are hard of hearing and those who have communication difficulties.

“It’s a simple idea and we are keen improve our patients’ experience.

“So we approached Marshall Tufflex to see if they would help.

“They kindly donated ten hand-held whiteboards and we would like to thank them.

“The whiteboards are already proving a popular communication aid for some patients.”

Staff and bosses at Marshall-Tufflex donated more than £54,000 to charities through 2017.

The company supports a wide range of charities each year.

Nationally the business gave to the Electrical Industries Charity, Comic Relief, Mind, Army Cadets, The Poppy Appeal and the Bobby Moore Fund among others.

Worldwide, it worked with Rotary International on its Dentaid initiative.

Locally, Marshall-Tufflex gave tablet computers to the Conquest Hospital and donated £2,642 to cover the administration costs of the SADIE (Skills for Adjusting Diet and Insulin in East Sussex) course, which is run by the East Sussex Health Trust’s diabetes team.

Funds have also been pledged to the hospital’s Critical Care Unit.

Marshall-Tufflex manufactures and supplies cable management solutions for commercial, industrial, healthcare, education and domestic markets.
