A Bake Off star has visited sick children at the hospital she is raising funds for in next week’s London Marathon.

Kate Henry, from Brighton, rose to fame after taking part in the Great British Bake Off back in 2014.

Now she is busy training for the marathon a week on Sunday. She joined a group of fellow Bake Off contestants to surprise patients and staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The bakers, all former Great British Bake Off contestants, helped to make sweet treats, shared their baking expertise and spoke with patients and staff.

Part of the Baker’s Dozen team, Kate will be taking part in this year’s run to support Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Kate said: “I was lucky enough to have spent a little time at GOSH with some of the children who were being treated for kidney conditions. It is unimaginable to me that many of these children have spent and continue to spend three days of every week, of every month, of every year, of their young lives at GOSH on dialysis.

“Having met some of these remarkable children, their families and the staff on the ward, what was most shocking of all was how delightful and uncomplaining everyone was. GOSH is a magical and extraordinary place and against all odds, it is full to the brim with smiles.”

During their visit, the bakers got to see first-hand where the money they are raising will be going and how it will make a difference to children.

More than 300 runners will be taking part in the London Marathon for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, hoping to raise a target of more than £600,000. To sponsor Kate go to https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/bakeoffkate
