Here, Chief Executive of Sussex Enterprise Mark Froud explains why a second runway at Gatwick is vital to the local economy in Sussex.
"Sussex is a great place to live because it has a successful economy.
"People have a decent standard of living because of the businesses that are here. Our international airport attracts international companies bringing jobs and contracts for local businesses. But we
can't take this for granted.
"If Gatwick can't expand, other airports will. Runways will go elsewhere in the UK and Europe. Gatwick will no longer be Britain's second airport.
"Independent research suggests that 5% of Sussex companies could relocate if Gatwick isn't allowed an extra runway. That's 30,000 jobs. Could one of them be yours?
"Sussex Enterprise, the Voice of Business for Sussex, is campaigning for a second runway at Gatwick.
"We recognise that there is a legal agreement preventing a new runway before 2019. We are not calling for it to be torn up.
"Instead we want the Government to plan for a new runway as soon as possible after 2019 and leave the door open for BAA and the local authorities to renegotiate the agreement to bring the development
forward if they can.
"The Gatwick decision is the biggest issue facing Sussex today.
"The Government's choice will determine the strength of our local economy and quality of life for the next 50 years. But time is running out.
"Now is the time to act to protect your business, your job and your local community."
